interesting... i dont mean to argue but then why do a lot of webpages who sell the cusco downpipe only sell all the normal exhausts like hks apexi and etc and not those other jdm catbacks?

there was also a thread a while back from bozz that was selling jdm catbacks and cusco jdm downpipes. And yes, Davon is correct, the jdm downpipe is shorter so it cannot be mated to a usdm exhaust due to the different lengths.

If you can get your hands on a Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) HKS Hi-Power exhaust, it will mate correctly with the Cusco DP. There isn't much point in paying so much for a commonly available exhaust here in the States though. Why not consider something more exotic like Kakimoto, Fujitsubo, Espelir, Corazon, Aqua FSP, or rare (at least here) models like the Apex'i Hayabusa? Not only will they fit perfectly with a JDM downpipe, but you'll have something unique that few others have.

You don't have to cut anything or buy any new bolts (although you might want to, just to make it easier where the catback and DP join. The flange is so thick that the provided bolts fit, but just barely) but you will need to get some kind of CEL fix, be it a reflash, mechanical, or electical. I just drove around with the CEL until i got my Cobb reflash.

I asked CUSCO if the Espelir for the USDM wrx wil mate up with CUSCO downpipe since the cat back is meant for USDM dp.
unfortunately now it gets confusing on what mates with what and the difference now being ....does it come from japan for USDM parts or cme from japan for JDM parts......
