EJ20T swap stand alone questions

I'm considering doing a ej20t swap into a gc8. yes im sure the first person to reply to this will probably say search search, but i dont need that. My question is has anyone does this swap using AEM stand alone ecu? im pretty familiar with aem being that i tuned my own honda, and i seen they have this ecu available for subarus. Just wanted to know if anyone has done this, anyinfo would help me on my quest. also has anyone done a haltech system on a wrx motor? just curious to know the experiences with stand alone. i dont see it worth the money to pay someone to wire up an obd2 ecu and then once i started mod'in ill need new engine management. for that i might as well go stand alone from the get instead of spending the money twice. thanks
