Do exhaust wraps and turbo insulation kit work well?

Hi folks,

I wonder if anyone have replaced their heatshield(turbo and downpipe) with exhaust wrap and turbo insulation kit.(I'm talking about the products by Design Engineering, DEI) Do they provide better heat protection than the stock heatshield?

Because I don't have the tools to cut the heatshield for fitting of aftermarket downpipe. So if the exhaust wrap solution works I'll just use them.

thanks
ben

You mean you dont have a dremel tool(<$50) or some tin snips($10)? Shame on you. Those are essential tools. Find a harbor freight near you for some tin snips. They are used for cuting sheet metal like your heat shield.

But those thing work fine, but are really no better then what you have now. I have my headers wrapped, and my uppipe jet hot coated. Oh and my turbo was even ceramic coated as well. I'm looking to do my downpipe eventually. And I still used my stock heat shield.
