Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Do aftermarket intakes actually produce power?

i'm sorry but does anyone see the "super charge any car for $69.95" ad at the bottom of the page.

I just find it kinda funny to see that in a thread about whether or not intakes make power

The APS and Perrin are supposed to work with out any side effects. The problem is most air intakes use a 3" diameter pipe. The Karmen Vortex style MAF sensor that Subaru uses is different than the GM/Ford hotwire where the MAF sensor is monted in a permanent orrifice and the Subaru/Denso one uses the stock airbox neck as the orrifice(which is like 2 5/8").The Subaru meter has been calibrated to this size orrifice and when you change the size of the orrifice the sensor is no longer calibrated. If the Maf is installed in a larger pipe it will run lean, smaller will result in a richer mixture. The APS and Perrin use the same size dia as the stock MAF location on the airbox neck.
