compressor surge? W/G chatter? wtf?!
so i just bought a bug eye from a used dealership...all was well with the world...it came with an sti catback, a perrin inlet hose and intake hose, but its mated to my stock intake box...blahblahblah...so heres my question...when i get on the throttle, it makes a whoooooshing sound(which i thought was vacuum + more airflow because of the inlet pipe) and then boosts clean no shakes, no jerks just clean boost...and then when i get off of the throttle, i can hear a whispering *shashashashasha*(wtf?) is that normal? one of my boys told me that it was surge...which means im killing my turbo due to the fact that instead of the excess air thats supposed to get recirculated BOV-->inlet-->turbo...isnt working right....instead, its just dumping the air back AGAINST the turbo which can lead to bent fans, shaft damage, etc.etc..has anyone else experienced this shi*t? ive done some research but it seems like everything i read about it on other forums goes on extreme tangents...any insight would help...thanks...

it sounds like compressor surge to me..... not good. if it has an aftermarket bpv/bov you may want to locate a stock one and swap it out. in the mean time check if the aftermarket one to see if there is anyway to adjust it.

ok...problem solved. now its just a clean short pshhhhh* thanks guys! there was some kind of pressure regulator on the hose that runs from the manifold to the stock BOV, that was restricting air...took that sh*t off, and now my car is running HEALTHY! thanks again. peace.
