Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

colder plugs

I've got a cobb AP stage 2 set up, should I be using a colder plug range than stock?
Also the car sees cold weather here in Canada

the heat range has nothign to do with the temp outside almost

the heat range is the temp in the cyl.

some people say it helps out with detonation

many people have ran into misfire issues w/ the OTS Cobb Maps, because they are not designed for colder plugs.....otherwise I'd recommed colder plugs for an aggressive custom STG2 tune...

True, but it can affect cold starts. You might have to turn the key a couple times when it's cold out. Once the engine is running, the plugs won't be affected by weather.

I'd recommend one step colder coppers. that's what I'm using on a tuned stage 2. They're cheap and work great. I've had the stock platinums, colder iridiums and now one step colder coppers, and there is no noticeable difference. If anything, the car seems to idle and drive smoother with the coppers. NGK/Copper/BKR7E/WRX/one step colder. the only downside to the copper plugs is they need to be changed about once a year.
