Spark plug gap should always be checked as a precaution, even if they are the correct plugs for your application. Plug gap should be .026" to .028" (Microsoft Word file) according to colder plug installation info on Vishnu site (thanks to Egan and BAN SUVS).
If this specified spark plug gap is smaller than the factory spec it is because narrowing the gap in a high-performance engine can reduce the chance of misfire under high load/high combustion chamber pressure.
At this time, there is no plug-and-play aftermarket ignition for the WRX other than going to a stand alone engine management system that employs its own coils. The WRX uses a coil-on-plug design which eliminates induction losses from spark plug cables to ground or to adjacent cables (crossfire) but this system was not designed for higher combustion chamber pressures from upgraded turbos and 18+ lbs of boost. I contacted MSD (Autotronic Controls) and they tell me that they are working on an ignition box that can work with the existing factory ignition harness.
