Is COBB stage 2 power package worht it?
Does anyone have experience with this package? Its about 1700 for the 04 WRX, comes with full turbo back exhaust and stage 2 remapped ECU with accessport that includes any CEL fix the exhaust might throw. Its rated at about 285hp with 1/4 mils of 13.4 and 0-60 of 4.6 secs.
Is this worth the money or should i just get the ECU remapped and another exhuast?

Thats not too bad a price but I'ld take the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times with some salt. The thing, is you can obviously go cheaper with other vendors but do you want to do that? Cobb is well known and well respected in the WRX modding scene. Personally I would also do the uppipe at the same time. I've heard Helix is a decent cheap alternative for a TBE and lots of other vendors/tuners make TBEs (eg: Vishnu, TurboXs, etc .....) so you could potentially always mix and match .... But if you want peace of mind you should go exclusively with Cobb ... that way everything is guaranteed to work together ....

Cobb's stuff is nice. I used their catback for a long time a loved it. Can't go wrong with quality.
1700 - Accessport = leaves you about $1100 to get a quality turboback.
I would go for it with Cobb unless you want a stealthier (or ricier)exhaust.

The cheap rout...
You can buy the Cobb Access Port for $600 now (I think that's the going rate...got mine for $555). Then All Cobb requires to run thier Stage 2 map (Once you have Access Port you'll be able to program any of Cobbs maps you want, whenever you want...)
Is a Down pipe. That's it...Stage 2 power. So if you want to go the cheap rout just find a cheap D/P. I'd suggest against it, but it can be done...(You can find that specific info on the Cobbtuning.com site.)

The Cobb DP uses a bellmouth design. I got the Helix DP which is basically the same design. I really can't tell a difference from the pictures that I've looked at. Here's what I would do if I were you (this is what I did), get the Helix 3" Setup from www.subydude.com for $850 which includes an uppipe, downpipe, and cat-back. Then, get the AccessPort from Cobb for $595. That way you have a little left over for intercooler hoses.

I second that one, you can pretty much go with any exhaust though.. but for sure, uppipe/ turbo back will give you the most HP/TQ for the price with the easiest install btw

Do you guys think Cobb's stage 2 claimed whp of 225 is accurate? What about those 0-60 and 1/4 mile times (4.6 and 13.4)? I'm somewhat skeptical of that.

The cobb downpipe claims to be specifically designed to flow the gases properly, not just a pipe attatched to the flange and a bellmouth. They also say that it's made of thicker material to dampen sound and heat loss. Cobb seems to really take their parts seriously and put a lot of pride in their work, not to mention really good customer service. If you have the money I'd go for the stage 2 setup, a good turbo back is gonna be right around the $1100 anyway.

I am waiting on my accessport right now. I installed the stromung 3" TBE. No cat version was 990.00. I love it. Not too loud but when you get on it, it sounds mean. It is a divorced wastegate setup. I also think Stromung makes cobb's exhaust, but that is just a rumor that i have heard. I think it's a good setup. The only thing to remember, for right now Cobb is off the shelf maps. Later i think they will offer a custom tuning platform to work with the accessport. So if you are going to go with cobb keep everything within their specs.

It's true that Cobb's map are only off the shelf right now. However, the WRX ECU can adjust to certain other bolt-ons such as an uppipe and silicon intercooler hoses. Therefore, running Cobb's Stage 2 map (which only requires a TBE) with an uppipe and hoses is just fine. It talks about it somewhere on their site.

If you want it right, go for Cobb. Cobb is a great company with GREAT customer support. Recently, I got my AccessPORT and Stage 2 hookup. The difference from stock is great. Now I need some brakes (as you go faster, you must stop faster I learned!!!) If you want some alternatives, here is my MY02 WRX hook-up:

That's a good setup, at a good price too.
If you are going to spend upwards of $950 on a TBE, I would consider the APS 3' system. Quality and r&d are top notch on these, just like Cobb's tubo back.
