Many of you are confusing hesitation with shudder. If you are talking about clutch problems, please post in the Clutch Shudder thread. I would also recommend reading it. This thread is about the hesitation that many Subarus have in the middle of the powerband.

The part throttle hesitation seems to be common on these cars. Its annoying as hell but you kinda learn to drive around it. It seems to only happen to me if I'm at about 60% throttle (I believe the ecu switches to open loop at 70%). So basically I stay away from the TPS region where the ecu switches to open loop. Either go to ~50% or push it to the floor, forcing the ecu into switching to open loop.
Its annoying and a reflash SHOULD fix it but doesn't in some cases. After reading the comment about a deffective MAF, I'm tempted to try switching out my MAF and seeing if the problem persists.
