Can you run high 12s/ low 13s with LEGAL MODS?????
Hey there guys... just wondering if theres any legal way of running high 12s OR low13s legally (as far as smog goes)
And a smooth-as-stock drivability will be nice too
lemme know what u guys think!!!

Not sure but I run mid 13's 0-60 mph 4.4 - 4.6 sec. Have stock WRX except gutted uppipe, Perrin catted dp, the rest of the exhaust is stock and very quiet, pulley's and a Vishnu EMI with MBC from TXS. Looks stock, runs quiet and goes fast. One advantage is we get 94 octane gas in CT.

Smooth as stock yes, Legal no. You would have to remove all your catalytics. Even doing that and putting in a hi-flow is illegal as your not supposed to touch the cat's in the first place. But you would pass smog

Adding lightness is one way to lose a couple of tenths. If you really go hardcore it would help a lot. Things such as: Seats, light bumper. carbon hood/trunk, lighter wheels and brakes, battery, get rid of a/c, etc
My first thing would probably be pulley, upgraded ic (Probably TMIC), catback, and ecutek would get you a long way without even touching the cats.

I kinda on my own decided to go this route, after reading MANY MANY threads... and my list looks a bit similar to yours Evan, thanks...
Greddy Type-S Blow Off Valve (mostly for sound)
HKS Hi-Power Cat Back Exhaust System
Perrin Lightened Crank Pulley (1.2 lbs)
Samco Silicon I/C Hose Kit
Cobb Tuning AccessECU
Will I be anywhere near the 300 hp power range with these mods? OR anywhere near low 13 second timeslips??? Hell, with these mods I will thank God if i run mid-13s even!!! any chance at that?
Thanks so much for all advice and replies!!

Blitz SUS Intake
TurboXS FMIC
GFB 50/50 BOV
TurboXS (Custom-Tuned) UTEC
TurboXS Full Turbo-Back Exhaust
TurboXS Uppipe
AEM Power Pulley kit (power steering and alternator w/ belts)
I chose to go with the AEM pulleys because the vibration dampener incorporated in the OEM crank pulley is absoultely critical to engine life. Other mods include:
Whiteline "Flatout" Lowering Springs (2" drop)
STi Replica Front Tower Strut Brace (First mod hehe)
Whiteline Rear Sway Bar
Whiteline Anti-Lift kit
Whiteline End Links
Not that any of the suspension mods give u power, but they sure do help in the twisties and launch. Anyhow, that is basically what you will need to get over 300hp (minus the BOV and Uppipe). Without those it might run about 301 at the crank (estimated). GFB BOV gives no gains/losses btw...

You're basically running a TXS stage 3 w/front mount and your claiming you made 275 whp? TXS only made 242whp. Are you sure you were on a dynapack awd? I'm sorry but those numbers seem way off.

wow.. 274.6whp w/ just those mods? Do you have a dyno chart to prove it?
I am surprised the stock fuel system can handle that much hp...

im surprised the stock turbo could handle it.
Boost Addict: No I don't think you will be at 300 hp...
The BOV doesn't make any HP
Cat backs don't help much, it's the actual cats that need to go.
cat back = ~10hp
crank pully won't give you more than 10 hp if that.
I/C hoses are good for 5-10 from what i'd read
the Access ECU is a good choice, let's say 30hp from that?
so you have 227 + 10+10+10+30 = 287. But those are ballparks of course.
But I think an uppipe would be better than the BOV, with the uppipe you could have the AccessECU tuned for more boost which would make more power in the long run.
