BOV (good or bad on a 2005 WRX?)
#2
Not really. Unless you really really really want the sound (pretty much the only thing they're good for) I wouldn't get one. If you do buy one I would suggest a recirculating one. Worx I heard is a good one.

Intake Silencer Removal AKA Snorkus
Best thing to do. It's free, gives you "some" sound and your car will be ok.
Give it a try:

let me say NO! Reason being. The person I bought my car from had the greddy rs bov recirc. kit on it. Tonight I decided to take it off and plug the hole. It went out of my garage fine, but as soon as I drove it, the car's power sucked. It felt like I had a ton of turbo lag. Not only that, but when I popped my car back into neutral, the rpm would drop to about 100-200 rpm and then idle back at normal. As soon as I got back I put back in the recirc. pipe and it ran fine. Just remove the snorkus instead.
Also, it's a PITA for the greddy kit to get it on and off.

if you want you can get a GFB (go fast bits) bov that is a hybrid with 50/50 recirculating and venting. i have it on my 05 wagon and it sounds great. they also have a stealth valve that can do any percentage
