Arrow Blown Engine need help picking new engine

Ok I finally found out that my '04 engine that had 7,000 miles on it blew two piston rings. So i need a new engine, i dont want to put a stock engine back. Ive been looking at the Cobb tuning 2.2L short block($3250). Are there any other engines that i should consider? Thanks Tom.

I was running a little more boost, aem intake, and turbo xs bov, nothing much at all done to the car but yet it blew up at 7,000 miles. I never over rev'ed the car. I have no idea why it went bad my luck i guess.

because that's fraud also, they would be able to tell pretty quickly what caused it.

fyi... intakes cause the car to run lean under boost when the fuel is in open loop mode due to inaccurate MAF readings. the boost controllers cause the car to run lean while under boost in closed loop fuel (14.7afr +15psi = very high cylinder temperatures). combine the two, plus the fact that the '04 and newer ecu's have a programmed delay from closed to open loop fuel can very easily and quickly toast an engine.

as for the engine, a jdm 2 liter would be extremely stronger. the 2.5l sti/legacy block is a nice and cheap upgrade too. whatever route you choose to go, it would be very wise to invest in tuned engine management to make the most of the new setup.

ya this isssue has nothing to do with the warr. i brought the car to a Subaru dealership that does all the aftermarket upgrades. They were the best i could think to solve the problem. I was looking for JDM engines do you know any company or junk yard that sells them?

Anyway too bad about your motor. Axis motors are nice. Make sure you get it tuned right and stop listening to your friends. I would go t a repuatble tuner with a budget and sse what you can get.

I see alot of sites saying the 2.5L will drop right into a wrx? I thought you would need the tranny etc. to do that swap or am i wrong? Thanks

nope, trannies are interchangeable. Although a 6 speed would be an excellent investment if you have the skrill. Understandably its not a cheap upgrade, but its infinetly stronger than the 5speed.

You think you could get your hands on an EJ207?

Those are pretty potent but require some good gas to run on.

Axis Power. . . . and also so to speak "Go big or go home" in that essense, buy an engine you will be happy with, and get it tuned right, spare no expense in getting a good motor with what you want done to it.
