Best place for an EGT gauge sensor?

I just got my DEFI gauge package and one of the gauges is an EGT. So where do i put the damn EGT probe? Some people tell me to pu it on the up-pipe but im not really sure if that would be a good place? Help me out here people.

Most people tap the casting button on the drivers side manifold since cylinder 2 and 4 run hotter than 1&3 on a stock setup. I didnt like the idea of only takeing readings from 2 of the 4 cylinders so I tapped the collector.

Assuming he has the stock manifold why would you recommend #3? A guy over at another Subaru site did some testing with a 4 channel egt gauge and this is what he came up with.

Stock setup

1-1579
2-1597
3-1542
4-1610

Stock with GP-Moto equal length headers and upipe

1-1575F
2-1632F
3-1573F
4-1549F

GP-Moto equal length headers, upipe and a full TBE

1-1476F
2-1482F
3-1489F
4-1463F
