Back to stock 04 still wont rev past 5g
I only had a bov, mbc, cai on the car it stopped boosting past 8lbs. one day. I put the car back totally stock and it still wont rev past 5000, idle's like crap, and wont make more than 10 lbs. of boost at any rpm. I reset the ecu. Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks Tom

I found a boost leak on the intercooler fixed it the car ran fine for 2 min and started running like it hit a wall again. The problem is i hear the egt probe banging around in the up pipe still I dont know what damage it could do could it chew up the exhaust turbine on the turbo?

yes, it could damage your turbo. but the bigger problem is that your car ran hot enough to melt your EGT sensor. that was probably caused by the combination of the MBC and intake on a stock ECU.
i would suggest getting any check engine light codes read and getting a compression check. if you do take it to a dealership, let them know about your mods as they were most likely the cause of this and that will help them diagnose and fix the problem. don't be surprised if they deny any warranty claims due to the mods... you play, you pay.

same thing happened to me, i ran 16lbs of boost tho. The rattling noise is more likely the actualy catalytic converter, in my case the entire side of it was fried and it was rattling up and down in the pipe, regardless, my engine was fine, i bought a new helix uppipe and full turboback exhaust, catless and that completely fixed the problems. As far as ur idle ur IAC might be bad but replace that uppipe as soon as u can. Also, tell me what codes ur getting. I had a couple i remember P0546 being the more common one it was High exhaust gas temp input or smoething. I would say ur turbo is fine, u said ur checking it anyway but make sure u take out that uppipe and replace it, its the cause of ur problems.
-I also noticed cat in the factory downpipe was getting bad, it wasnt banged up but because i had ran the car for a bit with the problem while trying to figure it out it got a bit rusty to but it was still useable, if u can try to take a glance at that one, might be an excuse to buy a new exhaust.

Im takeing the up pipe off tomorrow. What should I look for in the cat., anything that I'll notice? Thanks Tom

You should have searched before you put on that MBC and CAI. Your egt's were probably through the roof ,thats why you probably fried your cat in the uppipe. You probably won't notice any engine trouble right now but i bet your pistons are happy your back to stock. If the uppipe cat is the trouble i would get a catless uppipe and save for proper engine management. I had my stock uppipe on for 15k and 10k was with a cobb stage 2. I have had no troubles like this and i also have an 04'
Also 17psi with no extra fuel is crazy.

i took my uppipe out and it was rattling because the converter was completely disconnected fromt he pipe, the connecting part was burnt away, just look inside it, shake it some, shine a light in there, if its messed up like mine u cant miss it. if u dont wanna take the whole thing off stick something lightly in there and check if its rattling which it most likely is..... and then go catless u prolly wont have to waste ur money on a new turbo either mine was fine the particles arent that big, other then the egt probe itself but i think u said u wree boosting fine. What should i expect if i go catless without the Utec, I'm sure the computer is not going to like it right. Alot of codes I would think?
