AVO (MRT) 450 vs Vishnu Garret Hybrid
From what I've read the AVO 450 (or the MRT variant) turbo flows 650 CFM at 19 psi. The only problem I see is the price for that thing. The cheapest I've found online was $1900.
While looking for alternatives to this turbo I found one that sticks out. The Vishnu Ball-Bearing Turbocharger that is listed on their site for $1650. Since it doesnt list any flow rates I gave them a call. I was told that it flows 720 cfm @ 20 psi. Can anyone confirm this? That sounds too good to be true in all honesty.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these turbos? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jim

No that sounds about right considering the turbo is good for 500hp, I believe it is a Garrett GT30. If you are considering this turbo I hope you have a fully built bottom end.

I have a Cobb Stage 2 bottom end.

Jim. From what I know all of these are AVO turboworld turbos. AVO had an exhaust housing Cast to fit the Garrett wheel with the subaru bolt pattern. The MRT's are AVO's.. I would guess that the vishnu is as well but you better call to make sure. If the vishnu uses an IHI housing then get the AVO/MRT turbo. Most of the power and effeciency of the Garrett GT turbos comes from the Exhaust housing. The IHI is the lesser of the two housings. The compressor side of these turbos are Garrett based housings with GT wheels and they use a GT CHRA. Email Mike@vividracing.com. He has a Chart on these turbos.
