Acceleration and my IC...

I have been thinking alot about this. I really want to buy a new bigger IC but I can not decide on top mount or front mount. I know alot of people out there decide to go down the front mount path but I was thinking by doing that and addong like 9 feet of pipeing wouldnt I greatly effect my acceleration?

there could be slightly more lag caused by longer plumbing but that issue can be resolved by other means, like different launch/shift technic, BOV (i hear stock is pretty good), or even anti-lag programmed into ECU.

if your concern is acceleration (1/4 mi. ?) i'd pick FMIC just so i can avoid heat soak.

this is purely based on my limited knowledge...

what are you looking to achieve in your car. are you a drag racer, road racer, rally. what do you do and whats done to your car. what is your goal for your car. once you answer those then its easier to tell which intercooler is best for your.

I got a Injen CAI, Turbo XS UTec and RFL, and straight pipes from the turbo out. I also will shortly have athe Samco intake pipe. As for my goals for my car I use it for AutoX so I dont care much about my top end.

if you are not going to go crazy on the car and you will be auto xing then get the top mount. as long as you are not stoping and starting alot the heat soak will be minimal.

Is there any way to fight the effects of heat soak?

intercooler sprayers, air to liquid intercoolers, heat shields, coatings, spray of co2 or nitrous on the intercooler. stuff like that.

kind of depends where you put it. you will have the best results with a water sprayer in the intercooler. quantum racing sells one that is good.

here is all of the info on it. hope this helps.
