Wheels and tires. I don't care if you take this personal or not, but young drivers do NOT need more power in a WRX, they need more stopping and turning. Get wheels and tires. Better still, use some of it to attend an instructional track day, and learn to better use what you have. The WRX is a good car- if you can't get 80-90% out of it already, upping the car's limits won't help you much.

Agreed with BAN. But what do you want to do with your car? Wheels and some springs will make it look alot better and handle better, and I'm not suggeting this but you will be able to drive the car harder and fast and still have it handle.

I have to also agree -- do wheels and tires first. However, I would save up another $800 before you jump. I haven't found a wheel/tire package under $1800 that I would put on my WRX. The stock wheels are extremely strong and lightweight (16.5 LB) and are a tough act to follow.

I would actually advise against suspension in such a new car. He's got a huge amount of miles/time left in his drivetrain warranty, it would be a shame to void anything.

i agree with meilers. plus, the shocks will wear out soon if you only get springs. i doubt subaru will give you new ones.

personally, i think that rims are a necessity. but since i don't have enought $$ right now... i can only go with an exhaust. there are a bunch of wrxs out there. make yours special.

Good points, but i have friends that all own Mustangs. Im sick and tired of losing in third gear! I pull of the line, but get my *** kicked mid range. I took my car to LACR (In Palmdale) and I hit 15.0 flat 1/4 mile. I know that is a good time for a stock Rex cause of the other i c there. I WILL do wheel and tire package, bit i want power FIRST.
Thanks for your help
More suggestions!

If you're on a budget like me, just get better tires first. I recently bought Bridgestone Potenza RE750s in 225/50/16 (plus sized from the stock size), and nearly all aspects of the car's performance are improved. Acceleration from dead starts is more authoritative, turning grip and stability are improved, and the car feels less skittish in general, whether turning, accelerating, or just cruising. Like meilers said, the stock wheels are very well made. I'd say spend about $500 on the tires first (get your 17s later), and put the other $500 on upipe and downpipe, and a reflash (you may have to dip into your own savings this way). I feel that this combo will give you a strong, well-rounded WRX that will easily take those Mustangs on road courses, and will give them strong competition on a 400m run.
