Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

02 WRX question (smoke between shifts)

About the car: 02 WRX, VF-34, STi pinks, Walbro pump, Up-pipe, Helix catted Down-pipe, Apexi GT Spec cat back, STi intercooler. 70k on the motor, not sure on the Turbo, was in the car when I got her.

Been noticing when getting on the car and shifting from 2nd to 3rd, I am sending out a puff of smoke...not 100% sure as I have only caught this a couple of times.

It may have just been crap I kicked up on the road...but unfortunately I don't think so.

Any and all ideas welcome.

What color is the smoke? Dark or light?

Light...possibly blueish or white.
Seen it maybe twice, again...not 100% sure if it's from the car...but highly suspect that it is.

normally white indicates oil and black is unburnt gas. maybe its a gasket or seal in the engine? it does have 70k on it. have you goten it inspected yet? maybe its a coolant seal?

Had a compression test done back in spring when I had the timing belt done. Numbers for compression were very good. But that was 10,000 miles ago. Gonna keep an eye on it for now.

Thanks.
