What's the best MBC out there?
#16
while educating people about the dangers of uncontrolled/improperly set boost levels is good, it CAN be done safely with an MBC. the guy had one on his car for 2 years, right? we can assume he knows how to do it properly so as to avoid this spectre of "immediate and certain engine destruction."
personally, i wouldn't use an mbc on an 04 though, due to that slow transition to open loop fuel.
having said that, if you want good quality the hallman units seem to be very well made. if i was to get another mbc, i'd get this one: http://www.boostcontroller.com/index...26category%3D5

Check all your contections, sounds like you are only making wastegate boost....(I think that's what it's called)

I've had my Go Fast Bits Atomic boost controller on my '03 for a year now and it's great. Holds boost rock solid consistently. I have it set at 1bar since I haven't installed my catless uppipe yet. Once I do, I'll up it to 15.5 for daily, a touch higher for Auto-x. Read up on PT/FB, make sure you have a boost gauge and you'll be fine.

I think it's around 7psi. If you're running the factory boost control, make sure all of the vacuum lines are hooked up properly...not reversed from "playing" with 'em . If it just started, and you have a CEL, it may indicate something more serious. And don't fiddle with boost unless you've got a boost gauge.
<crosses fingers>Thank the gods I haven't had to deal with this personally<uncrosses fingers>

Anyone know what might be the problem?

I have an mbc with no issues. Decided to go back to stock until i got some engine management, but could not get more then 7psi. Tried every possible hose connection, reset ecu, and just the same 7 psi. So i put the mbc back on. Been fine for 3 years. Getting management soon though.
