UNICHIP works, but only if you can find someone to tune it for you. Do not go for cookie cutter maps.. I think that is what gave them a bad name to be honest. Mail order tuning is a very iffy concept. Nothing beats getting a custom tune, since every car is different.

I have one of the first generation Vishnu Unichips (running a custom VF-22 map) and while I have had zero probelms with it, I would not recomend a unichip to anyone right now. Very few places tune them and there are newer Engine Mangement systems with much better support out there (UTEC, AccessPort, ECUTek) that can as much and more than the Unichip can do. Even if you think you'd want to stay with an "off the shelf" map, I would recomend having your ECU re-flashed for what you want and be done with it. If your the type of person who likes to tinker with they're engine management system, go with a UTEC.

Would it be a wise investment to get rid of my unichip from my older COBB clubspec package, for a newer accessport system? I read that the unichips were tuned for that specific set of components (TBE, intake, BOV) and that it should make about 180hp. With the accessport it's not much more, but that COBB stage 2 also does not have an intake right?
