The SAFC is enough to manage the intake. The ECU will try to advance timing on its own.

The ECU is always trying to advance timing. It backs off when it detects knock or poor AF ratio.

I drive a 98 RS, and NO ONE makes an intake for my car. So I am forced to fabricate my own. Therefore I will need some type of MAF/computer upgrade. I have thought about getting a apexi SAFC. but I Figure if im gona spend the money on a piggyback computer to monitor my custom intake (ram air straight under the hoodscoop) that I might as well get something that I can fiddle with other engine specs(RPM , redline, etc)

anyone know if getting a SAEM would be worth it for a 98 RS, being naturaly aspired? and if ANYONE makes one? and maybee even an intake ? =)
Just an FYI, Injen makes a Cold Air Intake for our cars (98-99) that I have read is VERY similar in performance to the Cobb intakes for 00-01 cars. After waiting on Cobb for over a year and a half, I decided to buy the Injen intake (last week) only to get a killer deal on a turbo setup a few days ago, so I no longer needed the intake before it even arrived at my house (it's still brand new). If you are interested, you can check it out in the FS forum.

good luck,
jonathan
