Just for the record I (we) always recommend tuning as the first mod for owners of 04+ WRX/FXT/LGT due to the closed loop issues, that being said the reason I was surprised when I diagnosed Jeff's motor failure is it's the first one I had personally seen that had that failure that had not been tuned or ran out of oil. We see plenty of cars coming in for service and such who's owners don't have any form of engine management with similar bolt ons to Jeff's and with more mileage that while I imagine run like **** during at times on boost have still not actually let go.
