new subie owner's question...
hey all, I just bought a used 02 WRX last week. Great car, having a blast, but have some issues...
the car has a turbo back exhaust, drop-in filter, and a UTECH from Turbo XS. THe car has some drivablility issues (w/ the utech I think), in certain rpm ranges it studders three times, then starts pulling again. Feels like no boost or bad timing or something.
anyone use one of these piggybacks and have the same prob? anyone heard of anything like this?
thanks in advance for any info....

If your car doesn't even run right, the tune can't be that good.
Link to a thread with 19 people who blew their motors on Utecs. However, it's unkown if it's a hardware or tuning issue at this time. I would suggest getting some retuning done.

Does the check engine light flash when the studdering happens? If so, the problem is knock. The UTEC is a very powerful tool and the datalogging will help you identify your problem. Hook up your laptop to the car and start a datacapture using log 1. Post the portion of the log where the car bogs down and we should be able to help you identify the problem. You probably just need to retart timing or add fuel to a couple of zones.
Also, tou might also want to hop over to wrxhackers.com for UTEC help.
