Question a/f ratio Question

What is the optimal air fuel ratio for sti with ported turbo, headers, turboback, and short ram? Just trying to get an idea.

the "optimal" a/f ratio depends highly on the octane rating of the fuel, as well as the tuner's strategy. In general on 91 octane california fuel, we run STI's at around 10.7-10.9:1 depending on mods, car, boost, etc.

Thanks

so would it be safe to run 10.7-10.9 with the above mods and just try and figure out the curve from there on 91 octane

Generally anything bellow 10.9 is pretty safe. If you're doing your own tuning, I'd highly recommend that you get a good wideband O2 sensor as well as a good EGT gauge. Also, remember that a/f isn't all there is to making a safe tune. Basically your enemies are high EGT's and most of all knock. There's also something to be said for keeping your turbo in its effeciency range to prolong the turbo's life. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions.

Thanks
