manuel boost controler

I made a manuel boost controller and I'm now wondering how do you install it into the car. Any body have any photos on how to install one or let me know what hose to connect it to? Thank you for your help.

Here how I made it, got the idea from www.c-speedracing.com.

You don't want to go the route of a manual boost controller without some form of engine management. Most current street-driven engine management, whether reflashed ECU or piggyback units, use the factory boost control method modified accordingly.

The problem with a manual boost controller on a factory Subaru turbocharged car is that neither the fueling nor the ignition timing is adjusted properly to compensate for the additional boost. It is a path that leads to engine destruction.

At the time of this post, the current most popular form of engine management is the Cobb AccessPORT.

Also, consider filling out the Car (year and model) and Location fields in your member Profile because it spares other members the guessing game if you ask questions about engine performance or chassis. Occasionally members will ask "where can I get my Suby dyno-tuned?" but they have a blank Location field and neglect to tell us where they reside.

reason why Subaru Turbo'd cars do not allow for an MBC? Our cars have a MAF sensor, not a MAP sensor.
MAF sensors read in voltage based on Air Flow.
MAP sensors read based on Air Pressure.

Evos have a MAP sensor which is why they can utilize an MBC on the stock ECU.

Turbo Impreza's can use an MBC, but as stated, you can only use one if you are tuned for it, and even if you are, you can not change the boost level.

I have a Hallman RX MBC on my car and am tuned for it. What I did gain from the MBC is incredible boost response.

The ECU does read boost from the manifold, so yes it does have a sort of MAP sensor. The ECU(stock or aftermarket) relies on air flow to add fuel, not pressure. This is why if you increase boost with an MBC it doesn't add more fuel, it results in higher EGTs, and leaner AFRs.

it sucks, but that is the reality of it until Subaru decides to do otherwise.
