Help with Romraider- opensource tuning

I have a 2003 wrx MT using the XPT stage 2 map with launch control. My laptop crashed and I lost everything I used last time to tune the car, so I got a new laptop and downloaded all the apps needed (ecuflash/romraider, all with current definitions) but for some reason, the logger does not see I'm connected to the ecu. My laptop is an eMachines with windows 7 starter edition...anyone else have a similar issue and know how to fix this?? I'm wanting a new map, but need to pull some logs first. My old laptop had windows xp on it and I had no issues...could it be my operating system?? I know my device manager recognizes my tactrix cable (Com 4) but no data is being read on the logger...

I use all the open source tools on windows 7 with no problems so I doubt it's the OS. If you want to stop by sometime I can take a look for you.

Thanks

thanks Ed...it appears that I had downloaded the programs in the wrong order. I uninstalled all the apps and defs from the computer and started over. I installed ecuflash first and then the defs for that...then the romraider app was downloaded with current defs....I guess the drivers weren't installed right the first time I did it, so romraider did not recognize anything...something so easy took me a month to figure out...lol

now I'm working on a serial cable for my aem wideband...the cycle never stops! Lol

Thanks again for the reply!
