COBB stg2 reflash
so how good is it? i have a cobb turbo back system and a gutted stock uppipe and i've been leaning towards the stg2 reflash, but then heard of a local (for me) vendor who does ecutek work. so can anyone convince me how good COBB is?

The Cobb reflash is great. I have the stage 2, full 3" TBE, uppipe, etc. The only thing that you need to think about is where you are going with the car. Cobb only supports their well defined upgrade path. The great think about EcuTek is that you can pretty much do whatever you want and get a custom tune. For a long time, I really wanted a VF22, but now that I have the Cobb setup I'm pretty much stuck with the VF34/30 setup (not that I mind).
Bottom line - Cobb reflash is great, but not as flexible as the EcuTek reflash.

cobb stg 2 is awsome!!
like stated before though, it kinda sucks right now because if you want to go beyond that you need a custom tune which isnt available yet, but the accesstuner will hopefully come out sometime soon and that will allow tuners to set your car up.
hmmm, 110 octane pe1820 map to race and then a 91 octane crappy cali gas map for the rest of the time, as well as anti theft and valet mode

Cobb is all about street drivability and car longevitity (did I spell that right). They have a specific upgrade path for a reason...they make stuff that will push your car to the edge, but only if they know it won't have any negative side effects. They won't push past 285HP with the stock turbo, where as some tuners claim to get more HP with stock turbo. It's been proven that the bad things can happen over that point. I went with Cobb cause my car is a daily driver/commuter. I'm at stage 2 now with Accessport and I have 95K miles on my car. I'm looking forward to a Accessport stage 3, because I know Cobb will give me a product that won't be (too) brutal on the car. No crazy BOV's, no wierd CAI's, no electrical power robbing pullies, no clutch sensitive flywheels....nothing that effects drivability...Your car will behave like it does from the factory, only with that much more power...

I used my accessport to flash stage 2, I havent seen egt's over 1500, the car pulls like a mo fo and I am very happy.
If you dont plan on doing any other mods (yea right) I would say go with ecutek since you will get more power with a custom map than an off the shelf map. If you plan on doing other things to the car in the future you may want to start with the AP stage 2, wait for the accesstuner to come out and upgrade.
