Cobb Access Port - unmarrying question

My friend crashed and totalled his subaru, and he had the cobb AP2. Obviously to unmarry the AP from the car, the engine has to be running. The car was totalled so there was no way the engine would turn on. Is there anyway to unmarry the AP? Does he have to go through Cobb to do so? And if so, does anyone know if they even do it? Thanks!

the ENGINE does Not have to be running. Have him read his user manual.
