CEL - knock sensor (was: lil help please)
sup guys... i have an 01' 2.5 and my check engine light recently came on. i had it checked out and they told me it was an engine knock sensor...well i have absolutely no idea what that does but they want $250 to fix it.. i know i can do it myself i was just wondering if anyone knew what it did and how important it was?

Are they saying you have a bad knock sensor or is the car haveing a problem with knock? Here is a link that explains what knock is and a knock sensor is exactly what it sounds like, a sensor that detects knock http://www.stanford.edu/~bmoses/knock.html. find out what the actual code is. we can't really help you at all otherwise. the dealership should be happy to tell you... other wise it sounds fishy.
