CEL and flashing cruise control lamp (was: wondering if any1 had this happen to them)
car: 2006 wrx imprezza
mods: 3'' hks cbe, 3" helix catted dp, aps intake
miles: 28xxx
friday night, i was driving 70mph on 80, i just downshifted at 4k from 5th to 4th then back to 5th, then the worst thing happened since i had the car, my motor or tranny ( i dont know) did a pop noise and my engine check light comes on and my cruise starts blinking at about 100-105mph....(while stressed out, i get home and slept on it)*dont know how i slept* the next day, engine check is off and everything goes back to normal? i just want to know if any1 experienced this and if they know what caused it and what is the real problem...cause im stuck...
im thinking its the air fuel, and i know i need an AP....it just costs so much and im trying to get my P1s on soon.

It's likely that your car hit fuel cut to save the engine. Avoid driving the car hard before it is tuned for the engine mods. You can damage and eventually lose the engine.

It's most likely that you had an overboost which caused the fuel cut and CEL, this is fairly typical when you free up the exhaust flow on the newer WRX's and STI's.
You could swing by DB Tuned and have Paul connect to see if the CEL is still stored in the pending codes list (it should be) and he can advise you furher. He will also be able to set you up with a AP and tune if needed.

I wouldn't WOT when its really cold out with your mods and no engine management.
Overboost then cut off is really scary isn't it? =)
You might want to rethink about those wheels and pick up an AP first. ^_^
