car dies when in nuetral!
i have noticed this happening more and more. after i drive my car around and let it get warmed up, i noticed that it acts funny when in idle. the rms stays at .5 and it starts moving toward 2. the rms jerk back and forth and it sounds like the car is struggligng to stay on. rev needle will bounce around and eventually it will die. now this has happened when i am driving and i am in nuetral slowing down. the car seems to have a hard time stay on and it sounds like there is not enough fuel or something. it was not bad at 15,000 mile but its getting worse at 20,000 is this part of the clutch shudder? sometimes i noticed that when i am in 2nd gear going slow the car will jerk back and forth. the car struggling when in idle is what concrens me the most. if anyone has experienced this please let me know. i want to take it to the dealer for clutch shudder but i do not know if the old owner installed a racing clutch so i need to make sure before i look like an ***. also yesteday after my car had a 15 second struggle to stay alive the check engine came on. i will get a reading on it and post it up. i think autozone has the machine that can read wrx'x. thanks and let me know if this is a problem that alot of people have. P.S. i have vf22 turbo, ecu, cat back, fmic, and other stuff but no new injectors.

Do you have stand alone ECU? what kind of ECU you have?
If you do have stand alone, then you might need to take it to the manufacture or a tuner to read the error codes because only manufacture know when the check engine light is programmed to comes on.
I suspect one of the sensors. MAF sensor, ISCV, or TPS.
Check if there is a leak in the hoses too. IC hoses and vacuum hoses. Since you have FMIC, the hoses might be coming loose.

ISCV is IdleSpeedControlValve.
It controls how much air bypasses the Throttlebody when idling (TB closed but engine running)
TPS is ThrottlePositionSensor
These 2 sensors are around TB
on 2002 WRX,
ISCV should have 3 wires coming out. White, Red, and Black with white stripe.
TPS should have 3 wires too.
Yellow with Green stripe, Black with green stripe, and Red

Car Info: Black WRX, X.S. turbo back exhaust, X.S. cold air, and a lot of plans
I had the same thing happen to me after I did some tuning on the link ecu, it was the tps. I have it set at "9" well at idle, I had it at "0" and that is when I had the jecking around. I felt like I didn't know how to swift.

My '03 WRX Wagon is at the dealer getting serviced for what seems to be the same problem. With only 6,000 miles on my bone stock WRX, one afternoon at a Stop sign, the idle dips down almost stalling the car, the CEL come on for a second, the RPM's spike up to 1200, and this repeats for about a minute until the car dies and refuses to restart. Roadside assistance tows my car to the dealer where it sits for 5 days, and is cleared fro pickup. Upon pickup I am instructed to use "name brand" premium gas only. Note that I have always use BP/Amoco 93 octane since day 1, so this assessment was a bit shaky to me. Sure enough, 45 minutes later the EXACT same thing happened, and I wasn’t even half way home. Roadside assistance tows my car back to the dealership, and my car sits there for 2 more days. On the 8th day since the first breakdown, I am told by the service manager that I had a faulty ECU computer, and that they were able to reproduce the problem in another WRX by swapping in my faulty computer. Still waiting for "my baby" to return, but I will post the outcome as soon as she comes home. Check out her "last breath" (1MB mpeg file) - http://networkcmw.com/stalling.MPG

I had a hard time starting my car with a Stage 4 set-up and fmic minus STi injectors. When I was able to start my car, it idled rough. I test drove it around the block and during the drive, I stalled out twice and I had knock half way back.
I suggest you upgrade your injectors and don't risk driving at all, that is if your ecu is mapped for larger injectors.
