Accelerometers

Has anyone ever used an accelerometer in there car? I saw the one advertised by beltronics, and it looks pretty neat. I am just wondering how accurate they are and what experiences people have had with them. Here is the one I saw...

http://www.beltronics.com/fx.html

I only saw a few other posts about these, and there didn't seem to be many reviews on them. Seems like a cool toy. So long as it's fairly consistent I think I would be content. I am interested in seeing differences from Cobb reflashes, etc..

...and save the "go to the track" comments.

Thanks,
Rock

Thanks for starting this up. I'm thinking about getting one of these myself. I know it won't be totally accurate, but at least it will give me a clue about any performance gains from mods. The beltronics looks pretty cool, as well as the escort mode (which I think is the same). Of course, there is also the g-tech pro comp. I'll be keeping my eye on this thread for any replies.

I have the Beltronics Vector accelerometer. It's pretty good. I haven't been timed other than that, so I couldn't say how accurate it is. With UP, TBE, IC hoses, Cobb Stage 2, and Azenis tires on Superleggera wheels it says I run 0-60 in 4.5, 1320 in 12.85 at 110mph. That's my best. Usually I'm in the low 13s.

Wow! Either that accelerometer is really generous, or your car really kicks butt! I'm not trying to question your times, but I thought low 13 or high 12 second wrxs can only obtain that through the use of another turbo.

Most of my times are between 13.3 and 13.7. The sub-13 time was done at sea level in the desert. I don't know if that made any difference.

Thanks for your post with the information. This is the type of info I am trying to get. I am curious if any one has run at a track, and compared their times with a device like this. I'm sure someone has.. it is just a case of getting them to read this post! :-) Hey bone.. your numbers seem great!!! I am looking at the cobb stage2 also, and have the accessPort on order. Do you have any plans to get to the track???

Maybe I'll make it sometime, but not likely. Sorry.

Once I get past the 3/16" boost mod, I am going to test it out on my G-Tech Pro.. I really need a boost gauge to measure peak boost levels....
