I installed Koncklite on my 07 STi and went fine. I was trying to installed on my brothers car a 2006 STi, I subscribed to the Subaru forum, pay the subscription and the pinout for the STi seems to be the same as the one for the WRX, it says STI/WRX. I connected the wires the same as I did to my car but the knocklite does not do the opening ceremony, it has power but no signal from knock sensor or RPM I think. I think I tap the wrong wires.

I need the correct knock sensor and RPM wires soon, I am leaving back to Los Angeles and I need to fix this.

According to what I've read the 06 STI is the same as the 04/05 WRX/STI. Here's a link to scoobymods http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3725 . There is a PDF in the link with the pin outs. Did you use vampire taps? Did you check to make sure the tap is actually cutting through the jacket? If everything is wired right I'd guess you got a defective knocklight.
