Hey all,

We just received a new prototype uppipe and downpipe from Helix. They were nice enough to include a rough press release with it but no good photos . The nicest thing about these V3 up and downpipes is that they're external waste gate compatable. With the recent influx of large bolt-on turbos (Green, Red, SZ49, SZ55, etc.), these up and downpipes should help you scrape every last bit of reliable power from your setup. Here's the official release:

-Helix V3 Uppipe

The new Helix V3 Uppipe is designed primarily for use on the newer 2.5L Subaru turbocharged motors. It features a larger 2.3” diameter and external port for a 38-42mm external wastegate. The larger 2.3 diameter piping is well suited for big-power blot-on turbos (such as the Helix RR500 turbo) because it allows for greater exhaust gas velocity at the turbine nozzle. Utilizing an external wastegate allows for improved boost stability that can result in additional power. The V3 Uppipe is designed to be used in conjunction with the Helix V3 Downpipe, which features a return port for external wastegates. The uppipe features SS304 stainless tubing, SS304 flanges, and TIG welding. for an external wastegate.

-Helix V3 Downpipe

The Helix V3 downpipe incorporates all the popular features of the V2 downpipe with the addition of an external wastegate provision. This provision allows for external wastegate gases to be vented back into the downpipe. Helix also re-designed the bellmouth to reduce production costs without sacrificing the SS304 mandrel tubing, high quality TIG welding, etc. The end result is a better downpipe at a lower price.

hmm i have a helix downpipe and hks up pipe now on my 05 wrx along with a hks carbon ti exhaust, is it beneficial for me to upgrade the uppipe to the new helix v3 uppipe?

In your case, probably not. This uppipe is primarily designed for people who want to have the option of running an external waste gate setup on their turbo. If you're not running an EWG, a standard uppipe (like the one you have) is adequate.

i wanna run external wastegate but with a dump tube to the atmosphere, what im asking is will this work by just using the up pipe on a turbo xs downpipe or do you have to use the helix downpipe as well?

Yes, it will work and you'll only need to buy the uppipe.

Just wondering if the EWG v3 will work with a stock turbo. And what type of power gain would i be looking at? And how much better it would sound?
Would the helix up pipe v3 would with the bellmouth down pipe?
