WRX 5 speed to STi 6 speed Conversion
I'm really interested in doing this conversion as Auto crossing I'm stuck between 1st and 2nd gear and if you have a WRX 5speed you know there's a significant power gap there, and downshifting to first is a pain
I looked into shorter gear ratios and as a daily driver the new gears up top would just kill my high way mileage.... so I think droping in a 6 speed is the way to go (plus it's fricken cool).
ok so my questions:
can you just drop in the 6 speed?
if not what else needs to be changed?
also I currently have a kartboy short shift kit with bushings. will that get replaced or will I be able to keep it?
and... if I do up-grade would this be a good opertunity to replace the mounts too since I'll have it all apart?

6 speed tranny
6 speed shifter linkage
6 speed propshaft (or I hear an automatic wrx prop is the same)
A 3.90 ring and pinion set for your rear diff.
BADWRX says that you can use your existing flywheel/clutch/presureplate. He also says you can use the 5 speed tranny mount. but if you are going thruogh the trouble to do this I would use the 6 speed versions of these.

To do the conversion you have to pull the transmission and split it. The cost for the conversion and all parts is upwards of $8K. The gear ratios are way way better. stock wrx 3.4, 1.9, 6 speed 3.6, 2.3, That right there is way better for auto crossing. It's a lot of work, but it's worth it if you're willing to pay out
