Yes and yes. Use a GL5 oil with limited slip additives to help the synchros work faster. And stop shifting like Mario Andretti- your gearbox can't handle it.

Try not to overfill the gearbox or the engine oils. If the engine is overfilled sufficiently, the oil can be whipped into a bubbly froth by the rotational components. When this froth is picked up in the oil pan sump it goes to the bearings and leaves areas almost devoid of the oil film they need to prevent direct metal-to-metal contact.

The 'full' mark is etched on dipsticks for a reason.
