I have a modded auto. Here's some answers that I know of from first hand experience.

1. Protorque.com can modify your old TC. OR you will need to find a used converter and send it to them for the rebuild. Rancho Transmission I believe can do the work too. They are in Temecula. Subyspecialties.com did my install.

2. Launch technique for the auto: While in "D" at a stop light, press hard on the brake with your left foot. Switch tranny to "N", rev a couple of times with the right foot while left foot is still on the brake. You'll feel the brake peddle go down more. Now with your left foot still on the brake, rev it up 2000-3000 rpms and let go of the brake. Get a tranny cooler, good synthetic tranny oil, and don't do this for more than 5 seconds.

3. Blah, I don't bother with that. I find no problems downshifting with my modded TC when I need it. Thats what I like about my auto, I don't have to lift to shift.

4. There is NO need to rev in neutral for whatever reason. It just wastes gas.

5. Mash and go.

6. Yes, I scared my wife doing this. I was merging into traffic taking a hard left hand turn, while in the turn I smashed the gas and the rear swing out, corrected with steering - ala drift. It takes practice and if you don't know what your doing, prepare to kiss a curb.

7. AWD will sap more power than a rear wheel or front wheel drive. The engine has to power all wheels instead of two.
