The DCCD 6-MT will act like a rear wheel drive car without the DCCD controller, or when the DCCD control is set in the furthest rear setting. You would not want to have the DCCD control set anywhere but all the way back on dry roads or day to day driving (similar to having a 4wd truck in 4wd all the time). The good part is when you accelerate straight, have the DCCD engaged you get the benefit of awd. This is what I have in my '02 WRX.

As far as I know the non DCCD 6-MT has some kind of limited slip center diff. It seems to me that this would act similar to the way a stock WRX acts. This is the way I wanted to go and wish I would have gone, but being basically a rwd car can be fun too.

Good luck with your swap. PM me if you have questions if you want.

BTW do you have your 3.90 ring and pinion for the rear diff? and the new driveshaft?

My tranny code is: ed-ty856wb3ka
It's a 2003 JDM tranny.

Call Rallispec 609-702-7800
They really helped me out with my center diff and various other things.

Good luck

You can get both the version 7 and 8 JDM STI 6 speeds in a non-DCCD transmission. You can also find verson 6 STI RA 5 speeds with DCCD. It pretty much all comes down to what you want.
