Drivetrain Encompasses driveline components such as the torque converter, clutch, transmission, shifter, front and center differentials, driveshaft, rear differential, and axles.

For those lowered Subies that drive in snow, is the Rear diff protector Needed?

Just as title says, I live in Ohio, secondary Snow-Belt, from Lake Erie, we get lots of snow at times.. I was wondering if any of you lowered Subies use or find use for the Rear Differential Protector, or is it not necessary, cause it's snow I don't know, help me out

None of the guys around here have one ... and I live in Salt Lake City. I think it's more for protection from rocks. But then again, I guess it depends on the kind of snow you get. We get a lot of light, powdery snow.

like he said. unless it is snowing rocks then you don't need it and it that is the case the stock dealer one is pretty worthless. you would need to go with an offroad one.

I'm in IN. I don't have a rear diff protector. Seems ok. I do however have a front skid plate. It's from primitive. I love it. The only time it sucks is when i do oil changes but it's no worse than that plastic piece of crap from SOA. It has a couple of pretty good gouges in it. It also seems to help when i go thru deep snow. It glides along the snow.
