Strange grinding sound in neutral??
#16
after driving my car for a day ... the noise came back. its not as loud as before buts its still there... very suttle. im gonna have to take it back to the dealers. if they say its normal, id make them sign something that says its ok for the vehicle cause if your transmission locks up due to a mainshaft bearing exploding inside the transmission, theyd have to replace it. even after warranty, they keep everything in a log.

Have you checked to see if there are signs of wear on the shaft that the TOB slides over? Apparently its not uncommon for the shaft itself to get worn. Haven't seen it myself yet though. It its a mainshaft bearing then definately get what they say in writing or if you really want to get them on it bring in a small recorder and make it clear at the start of the tape that you will be taping the conversation. They will likely be alot more careful what they say or refuse to do for you. Its not likely they will say on tape that its normal and to continue to drive the car.
