sticky/notchy STi shifting

Im at about 5200 miles now on my STi and the shifter is getting sticky. It just all of a sudden got harder to shift into 1-2-3-4. It used to be quite smooth with the added STi short throw, but now its down right difficult to get through the gears sometimes

is this a lubrication issue or is something else going on?
