Question STI Flywheel USDM vs JDM

just wondering if there is a difference between the type of flywheel being used in the JDM vs the USDM.

I purchased a JDM 6 speed driveline and it came with a recessed type flywheel. is it the same for the USDM STI's?

Also whats the difference between a recessed type flywheel vs a flat type? why would they use one and not the other?
