I have a 98 OBS and put in a Kartboy short shifter in about 8 months ago. The shifter just started to move horribly within the last 2 months. For instance, whenever I am in 1st gear you can move the stick the whole over to 5th without popping it out of gear. And it also is making this annoying clanging sound from the vibrations of my exhaust. Im not sure if its the shift linkage being lose or if it is maybe bushings just needing a replacement. If anyone has had this problem please pm me with some info. Thanks.

 

Did you replace the bushing down underneath by the tranny? The shifter bushing? Sounds like that can be the problem also have you checked the bolt holding the shifter in?

 

No i didnt replace the bushing underneath the tranny. Does Kartboy sell these or are there any other companies that sell them? Thanks for the help.

 

you should consider purchasing the kartboy bushing- it'll make your shifting feel soild
