I just swapped an ej22 into my brighton (originally ej18, so the 5MT has a pretty close gear ratio) and did some exhaust work, and am starting to notice that this thing has to scream to do 75-80 mph. What can i do to get a better cruising rpm without spending too much money? Thanks for the help

 

What year is the 2.2 and is it from a wagon or sedan/coupe?

 

i have a 98 L 5speed trans and rear diff. It has the 3.90 final drive ratio. Better for cruising. Dont know what gear ratios you have. Its up for sale if you want it. 400+ shipping for trans and the rear diff. Pick up available if you want. Its in NE pennsylvaina. pm me if your interested

Sorry to take so long to get back, the 2.2 is out of a 98, i dont know what it was out of, other than it was a manual also. I dont know what my ratios, are, all i know is that theyre stock ej18. I had thought about the tranny/diff swap, and am still considering it, but was wondering if theres any way to just change out 5th gear, or any other cheap and ghetto way to make cruising more comfortable. or am i stuck until i get a new tranny/diff?
