Revs in tiptronic
what would you consider the max. for driving in 'tronic mode and in 2nd gear,it seems to scoot from around 85 up to the fastest i've dared take it,at around 120,and although it can do this speed,i don;t know how the gear box will stand it,for too long, not that i drive in that rev range long, just enough for a real quik overtaking manouvre.

Hi go go go,and thanx ,yeah i know the red line is meant to be the max,i was thinkin' more along the lines ,for how long would it be ok up near the limit, i mean 7000 revs in 2nd must be punishing something surely? wouldn't want to keep it there too long.

I don't see a point of holding it in 2nd at redline for a long time but it shouldn't be a problem.
Subaru automatic is reported to be stronger than 5spd MT so as long as you have the stock engine, I'd imagine tranny can take that abuse.
why would you want to keep it in 2nd though?

it's not that i'd keep it in 2nd as such (like 5 mins),just a burst to over take quik in the 70- 100 kph approx range, like mainly for overtaking lanes on our hills here, are only sometimes short like around maybe 50-60 metres designed to allow one or poss two cars to get by the one being passed, owing to the amount of road available for this lane to be operable, and the given limitations of the length between the start and finish of them, if you see what i mean,so you need some get and go ,to do it safely,in the short space available
