Reverse Lockout Problem

So I took my car to get a saftey check yesterday.... When I got my car back from the shop. My reverse lockout was stuck in the up position. So I still had reverse but It was now a pointless trigger. It dosent seem like the cable is broken since the Lockout is open on the tranny its just stuck somewhere. I took it back to the shop and they are having a hard time figuring out what they did to my car

EDIT: So I found that the tranny has a failsafe on it so that if the cable breaks, you still have reverse. Good thinking Subaru! The cable was rubbing on the driveshaft, so we think that it pretty much melted something and caused it to snap.
