Question Notchy shifting w/OEM short shifter, need bushings?

I have an 03 WRX with the OEM short shifter in it. Shifting is a lot notchier than I would like it to be throughout all gears. Also on cold startup it has a big problem going into reverse!!

Will those Kartboy shifter bushings fix this problem or is this a tranny problem that I should take up with Subaru??

the car comes with a notchy shifter, you can try changing to synthetic tranny oil and see if that works. I don't think there is anything the dealer can do for you.

I've heard of dealers admitting to the difficulty getting the car into reverse, and sometimes i need to let the car warm up a little bit before trying reverse. Synth tranny oil may help a lot...

So there is no real way to get rid of the notchy shifting completely, even though I will change to synthetic tranny oil, I was hoping that was what those bushings did?

Angry same problem here

I too have the factory short shifter and it is hard getting it into reverse off a cold start. One thing that helps is, putting the car into first and nudging forward a little bit, then trying to put it in reverse.

This seems to help me sometimes, but it would be nice to solve the problem for good.
