New Clutch Replacement (TSB) Reactions
I figured I'd start a new thread collecting everyones reactions to getting their new TSB clutch. There are other posts about how to go about getting it done and issues doing so.
How does your baby drive now? good things, bad things? glad you got it done, wish you never did it?
Please, just driving reactions. no service or dealer flaming necessary.

Happy with mine. I miss the stiffer pedal, but I'm in a minority there. I still notice shudder very occasionally, but not often at all. It's much smoother on uptake than before. I'm pleased with it.

i just got mine back like 15 minutes ago. i think its sooo much better than before, engagement wise... but as far as the soft pedal, its kinda strange. i gotta get used to it. but the shudder is completely gone. my strange grinding sound in neutral is now gone, and overalll i guess i wish i had done it sooner.
hey, does anyone know if they replace the TOB in the tsb?
and did they make you sign waiver that said they fixed it under goodwill policy, and said they will not fix it if anything else happens to it while still under warranty?

pedal vibration
I just got mine back a coiuple days ago, and I feel that Ive missed out on about a years worth of better driving. It is the way it should be now (i guess).
fantab-
they didnt replace the tob on mine, I trust the guys at my dealer so I didnt really make a stink about it. if it gets worse Ill just take it back.
However, now I feel a lot more engine vibration through my pedals? noticably, a lot more! anyone else experience this. I cant say that this feels normal...

I haven't had mine done and probably won't. The shudder is caused when the clutch gets over heated and can't grab. As soon as the clutch cools it's fine. Everyonce and a while does it in the cold in the morning, but no big deal. I don't want a heavier flywheel witch is part of the upgrade. Just my .02 cents.

im scared to drive really hard since ive got it replaced. has anyone tried racing with the new clutch yet? do you think these can handle a lot more abuse than stock?
... also heavier flywheel? i did not know of this. does anyone know what kind of clutch disk and flywheel they used for the tsb? ive read somewhere that they put in the sti spec, but i could be lunchin.

I just had it done, and my initial thoughts are that it sucks ***, and I want my old clutch back, and may even put a ceramic or kevlar button in sooner rather than later to get my launch back. It totally neutered first gear from a stop. Now, I had my 30k service at the same time, complete with new plugs, fuel filter, blah blah, so I am resetting the computer as I type, and this may fix part of the problem, but I doubt it. The judder is gone. The problem is that where the old clutch didn't slip at all, the new one slips too much, to the point where it smells on a hard start. I'll check back in once it gets a few hundred miles on it (like, next week) and the ECU has re-learned the clutch, new plugs, new filters, etc.
I haven't noticed a lot of difference in terms of pedal feel, either the loss of stiffness or the vibration that others have had, but I'll look at it more carefully for a while.

Can anyone tell me if the TSB discusses here is a more agressive or less aggressive clutch than the stock WRX clutch?
My dealer just documented my clutch shudder this AM. I'm in Canada and our TSB on this issue only covers the 2.5L cars. My service guy said I have three options:
1. Get the stock clutch replaced
2. Get the upgraded clutch as per the USA TSB
3. Put in an aftermarket (I pay for it)
I am trying to debate as to whether I get the stock clutch replaced, which is supposed to be an aggressive clutch. Or, get the USA TSB recommended clutch. I have considered going aftermarket but the funds can't support it at the moment. I am considering throwing in a short-throw though.
Thing is, the Master Tech at my dealer tells me that the 2.5L clutch replacement is a less aggressive clutch to make engagement smoother but as a result, you lose some off-the-line performance and clutch life is shorter. Does anyone know if this is also true for the 2.0L Turbo clutch upgrade? If it is, I may just get the stock clutch replaced with the same unit. Has anyone actually seen the two clutches side-by-side for a good comparison?
Thanks, JC
