I'm not to sure how expensive things run in your area, but $650 probably isn't the worst you could pay. You have to remeber doing a clutch/flywheel install involves taking out the whole tranny so it is pretty labor involved. But like I said before I found a company by me that deals with pretty much only Subbies and it only cost me about $480 to install and new clutch/flywheel.

And from your question before the exedy clutch and streetlite flywheel have been great for me so far. I have no noise the pedal feel for me is way better than stock, it actually came out feeling a bit looser instead of having to mash the pedal down every time I shift. Driving in traffic is definitely a lot easier.

I think if I were to do it again, I'd get a new stock clutch and mate it with a lightened flywheel. The fly is definately funner in my opinion, but for a mild clutch upgrade it's hard to tell the difference.

No, that is just the route I went. You can have the flywheel resurfaced, that is fine, I just chose to upgrade it because of the mods that I have done to my car. As far as the stock clutch is concerned I would still upgrade to something a little better especially if you plan on modding your car and even if you are not, don't you think it would be better to have something other than stock just in case? Unless you are buying a clutch that is way overkill for your car.
My opinion is to get the exedy organic clutch over a new stock one. More clamping force, pretty much the same pedal feel and it will last you the same amount of time as a stock clutch if not longer.

Your tranny should be fine with an aftermarket clutch/flywheel. It is all in how you drive that will determine how long your tranny will last.
