I got rear ended and something is wrong with my tranny
I got hit August 22nd, the should've been totalled, but it wasn't. The only reason it was a brand new 2004 WRX Wagon with 3k on the odometer.
The floor pan was busted, we couldn't get the spare tire out, the passenger frame rail, the quarter panel and more. Well I took it to the best shop, and they've made their pulls on the frame and aligned everything on a frame alignment rack. It's looking good.
However my tranny is still messed up. I got hit, when I was in first gear, it feels like it's in neutral but its actually in first. It's not the shift linkgage, everything looks fine and nothing was bent.
You can disengage the clutch but you can't shift out of it it stays in first.
Thoughts?

That's BS. If that's what your insurance claims adjuster told you, they're full of $hit.
The determining factor is whether or not the repairs would cost more than the fair market value of your car...maybe that's what you meant??
If you insurance company is competent, they will have a skilled mechanic estimate to repair your heinous tranny damage.

Rough calculations of the total damage is 11k in bodywork, (floor pan, passenger frame rail, passenger rear quarter panel, pulls on the frame). God knows how much in tranny work. Geico expected this to take a month or two max. It's been six. They paid for 4 months of rental and cut me off. I have no rental car. So thats 120 days x 30 for rental 3600 + 11000 = 14600, and to have my car totalled was 75% of 23k so thats 17250... are we getting close yet?? All I know the car might need a new tranny?
Not to mentoin pain and suffering and my medical bills. 4k in medical, my spine was twisted. Shrug. It's cool now.
You know straight up that auto claims adjusters low ball like crazy.. total estimated cost of repairs was 4200 initially, including tranny damage.

you need a different insurance company, when my car was totalled, it didn't look half bad to me, but they uncovered hidden damage, and they said they didn't want the car compromised in the event of future accidents...I had a thorough body shop look at it as well....plus it was WAY less damaged than yours.

fromwhative seen in the past check allte mounts and make sure the linkages are all straight
we had a car towed to our shop with a blown engine h6, when we were removing the engine we found the pitch mount snapped in half and 2 broken motor mounts from the accident, the body shop or adjuster didnt see this
